What is the curriculum?
The program will run for eight months with classes meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month from October through March. An evening orientation and day and 1/2 retreat will occur in September. A closing celebration will be held in April. Delivered by a diverse selection of quality trainers, sessions will vary, but each will be customized to Whitley County. They will include lively panel discussions, leadership training exercises, charismatic speakers, group interaction, on-site visits and individual/group projects to enhance the community.

- Personal Mission
- County Awareness

Who can participate?
Individuals who have a sincere interest in community leadership, who want to increase or enhance their own level of involvement and who desire to broaden their scope of knowledge beyond a particular area of expertise are encouraged to submit an application. It is mandatory that applicants have the support and commitment of their businesses or organization and they must possess the personal commitment to participate in the scheduled class sessions and activities.
It is anticipated that more applications will be received than there are spaces available in the class, in which case the selection committee may be forced to eliminate excellent candidates. Those candidates will be strongly encouraged to reapply in future years.
How will participants be chosen?
Acceptance is limited
to Whitley County residents
or those employed in Whitley County.
Applicants will be considered using the following criteria:
- Ability and desire to assume or continue leadership responsibilities in the community.
- Personal commitment to on-going community service
- Willingness to commit to the program and related activities
How do I apply?
Applicants should contact the LWC Program Director to receive an application, or download it from this web site. Applications should be received no later than the last Saturday in June. Letters of acceptance or regret will be sent by early August.
Tuition is due in full by September 1st.

What is the financial requirement?
Tuition to the program is $600. A limited number of partial scholarships are available. In many instances, businesses will underwrite the expense to sponsor an employee.
